Hello! We’re back with the soccer/football pool. This time, it is around the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the USA and Mexico.

It is 20 CAD to enter our pool. Money can be delivered by cash, Interac or PayPal. If you’re sending money by PayPal, you must cover the transfer cost. This means that I need to receive exactly 20 CAD per entry. If sending via eTransfer or PayPal, send money to “[email protected]” and in the note field, mention the World Cup Pool and include your name and email address. The deadline to pay the entry fee is June 11th.

Prizes

We have redefined the consolation prize. We will no longer grant the last position in the pool! If only one person finishes 4th and the first three positions are occupied by no more than three participants, then s/he receives a 20 CAD consolation prize.

The person who gains the most points in total wins the bet and gets 60% of the total amount of money (minus a 20 CAD “consolation prize,” if such was awarded), which was bet by all participants in the pool. The person with the second-most points gets 30% of the pool money, and the person in third place gets 10%. If more than three participants finish in the top three (i.e., a tie), the entire pool is divided accordingly. Also, the cost of money transfer, if necessary, will be deducted from the amount won.

* Say, one person won the bet, and there are three participants who finished second place with the same amount of points, then the first person gets 60% of the stake, the three runners-up get 40% divided by 3 (13.33% each), and there’s no prize for winning the 3rd or 4th place in this case. In case two participants win the bet and one person finishes 3rd, the first two participants get 90% (60% + 30%) of the stake, divided in half (45% less a $20 “consolation prize” per person), and the 3rd-place person gets 10%. And so on, and so forth.

Don’t forget to sign up! 🙂

If you’d like to participate, set up an account on the website and then fill out the form. When you click the button below, you will be taken to the Rules page, which explains how this pool format and scoring work. At the bottom of the Rules page, there’s a link to register. Remember to select the 2026 World Cup pool as the league when registering.

If you participated in the Euro 2024 or 2022 World Cup pool, log in with your email and password (find the corresponding links under the Register button). If you forgot your password, you can reset it using a link underneath the Register button. Or ask Michael to help you with it, for example, if you need to use a different email address for your user account.

After you have registered (or logged in), you’ll be taken to the Prediction Sheet page to select scores and answer bonus questions, e.g. who the top goalscorers, best goalie and the winner will be and so on.

Once you submit your picks, you will still be able to update them later by logging in to your account; however:

  • All bonus picks can only be changed before the first game of the 2026 World Cup, so by 3 pm Eastern Time on June 11th
  • You can submit scores for particular games on the Prediction Sheet just before the games begin, but to make sure your prediction has been successfully registered, please do it a few minutes before the game at the latest.
